Memorial Day Weekend Activities: San Francisco Edition

Happy early Memorial Day! In honor of the long weekend, we have compiled a list of the top five family activities happening this weekend in the San Francisco area. 1. Memorial Day Commemoration and Parade. May 26. www.presidio.gov. This annual event will begin with a parade, and end with tours of the National Cemetery by Park Service rangers. A highlight is the 21-gun salute by the U.S. Army’s 75th Pacific Division.


2. Memorial Day Weekend concert at the Golden Gate Park. May 25. www.goldengateparkband.org. This free concert, in honor of Memorial Day, is offered by the Golden Gate Park Band, a nationally recognized organization dating back to 1882.


3. Adventure Playground at Berkeley Marina. May 24 – May 25.  www.sfkids.org. The Adventure Playground offers a chance for kids to play and build creatively, Plus, it’s free for 4 or less children, accompanied by an adult.


4. San Francisco Magic Show at the Aquarium of the Bay. May 24. www.sfkids.org. Featuring Las Vegas magician Timothy Noonan, this a family-friendly way to spend an afternoon in a historic area of town.


5. Historic Waterfront Walking Tour at Hyde Street Pier and Aquatic Park. May 24. www.sfkids.org. Families can walk with a Park Ranger to learn about the history of the city. The tour covers a mile radius, so everyone walking should wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen.
