Family Events in San Francisco: June 6 – 30

Summer can be just as crazy busy as the school year, what with trying to find activities that the whole family can enjoy. We have narrowed the search a bit, and located five of the coolest activities happening in the SF/Bay Area this month. Check them out and let us know if you plan to attend! 1. Washed Ashore! At the San Francisco Zoo. June 7 – September 30. www.sfzoo.org/announcements/washed-ashore

This exhibit is designed to increase awareness of the debris that gets tossed into the ocean every day, and the impact it has on sea life. Kids will learn how to respect the ocean, and how to say no to pollution in any form.

 

2. Alameda County Fair. June 18 – July 6. www.alamedacountyfair.com/2014fair/index.php

With horse races, carnival food, contests, livestock shows and auctions, and concerts, this is an ultimate summer experience! On July 4, there will be a huge fireworks display to commemorate Independence Day.

 

3. Teddy Bear Tea at the Oakland Zoo. June 14. www.oaklandzoo.org/Teddy_Bear_Tea.php

Youngsters can bring their own stuffed animal or doll and enjoy a morning of snacks, activities, storytelling, and play. At the end of the day, kids get to take home a special goodie bag!

 

4. Northern California Pirate Festival. June 14-15. www.norcalpiratefestival.com

This weekend-long event features living history, delicious food, authentic crafts and a huge play area for kids. They can see mermaids, a pirate comedy show, and a ship to shore cannon battle that should not be missed!

 

5. Jamband Family Festival. June 8. www.jamjamjam.com/jambandfamilyfestival.html

This open-air festival is designed as a way for families to get together and enjoy music in a beautiful outdoor environment. Held in the Golden Gate Park, kids and their parents will listen to music and enjoy delicious food together.
